Descripción:C2,C8-Dimethyladenosine is a nucleoside that is used for antiviral and anticancer purposes. It is synthesized from 2′-deoxyadenosine monophosphate, which is in turn synthesized from adenosine triphosphate and diphosphate. C2,C8-Dimethyladenosine has been shown to inhibit viral replication and induce cell death of cancer cells. It binds to viral RNA polymerase, thereby inhibiting the formation of new viral particles. This compound also inhibits DNA synthesis by binding to the active site of DNA polymerase α and interfering with the process of base pairing. C2,C8-Dimethyladenosine has also been shown to have an antimetastatic effect by inducing apoptosis in tumor cells.
