It has antiviral and anticancer properties, and it inhibits viral replication and also induces apoptosis in cancer cells. 2'-Deoxy-2'-fluoro-2'-C-methyluridine 5'-triphosphate sodium salt has been shown to inhibit HIV replication with an IC50 value of 0.5 mM. It specifically targets HIV reverse transcriptase, which is responsible for the conversion of RNA into DNA during the early stages of infection. The compound also inhibits cellular proliferation and induces apoptosis in cancer cells, including prostate cancer cells.
