2'-Deoxy-2'-fluoro-5-methylcytidine is a nucleoside analog. It is an antiviral and anticancer drug that inhibits the synthesis of DNA by interfering with the activity of specific enzymes in the cell. 2'-Deoxy-2'-fluoro-5-methylcytidine has been shown to be effective against human T cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). This drug also has antitumor properties, which may be due to its ability to interfere with DNA synthesis. 2'-Deoxy-2'-fluoro-5-methylcytidine is a modified nucleoside that can be converted into monophosphate or diphosphate, which are activators for deoxyribonucleosides.
