Pipernonaline has potent inhibitory activity against infectious diseases such as pneumonia, bronchitis, tuberculosis, and leprosy. It also shows potent inhibitory activity against chronic inflammatory diseases including thp-1 cells and asthma. The mechanism of action for pipernonaline is through cation channel opening leading to an influx of calcium ions into the cell.
