Mogroside I E1 is a sweetener that is structurally related to mogrosides. It has been shown to inhibit the dna polymerase activity and reduce cancer cell proliferation. This product was developed as a health-care product for the treatment of diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. Mogroside I E1 is also used as a flavoring agent in food products. Mogroside I E1 is synthesized from mogrosides by dehydration of the sugar moiety with alcohols and oxidation of the sugar moiety with hydrogen peroxide or sodium persulfate.
