Descripción:
Cisplatin is a chemotherapeutic drug that inhibits the growth of cells by binding to DNA and forming cross-links. The crystal structure of cisplatin has been determined using x-ray crystallography techniques. Cisplatin binds to DNA through an interaction between the carboxylate group and the phosphate backbone, which forms a covalent bond with the N7 atom of guanine in DNA. Cisplatin also interacts with other molecules such as chloride, water, and proteins. Cisplatin is an apoptotic ligand that binds to mononuclear cells, leading to death.
