(2S,5S)-2,5-Dimethylpyrrolidine-d6 Hydrochloride is a racemate of the (2R,5R) and (2S,5S) isomers. This product is a hydrochloride salt of the (2S,5S) isomer. The racemate and the hydrochloride salt have asymmetric properties because they have different configurations at carbon atom number 2 in their pyrrolidine rings. This product can be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of optical purity in other products.
The active form of this compound can be recrystallized from diethyl ether or ethanol to give a white solid with a melting point of 100°C. The solid is soluble in diethyl ether and ethanol but insoluble in water. The substance has been classified as flammable and it should not be exposed to open flames or other sources of ignition while handling.
