It is an antiviral agent that is active against herpes simplex virus type 1 and type 2, as well as cytomegalovirus. 3′-Guanylic acid disodium is also an anticancer agent that has shown promising results in animal models of glioma, lymphoma, lung cancer, and breast cancer.
