It is deoxyribonucleosides and ribonucleosides, which are the building blocks of DNA and RNA respectively. 5-b-D-Glucopyranosyl-5-thio-thymine can be used as an activator for phosphoramidites, which are used in the synthesis of DNA and RNA. This modified nucleotide also has anti cancer properties as it inhibits the growth of tumor cells.
