The target product is an inhibitor of the enzyme farnesyl diphosphate synthase, which catalyzes the conversion of farnesoic acid to farnesyl diphosphate. Inhibition of this enzyme prevents the production of cholesterol and other sterols, which leads to a decrease in lipid biosynthesis.
