GRF is a peptide hormone that stimulates the release of growth hormone from the anterior pituitary gland. It also has been shown to be an inhibitor of protein interactions, such as binding to receptors and activating them. GRF is a cell biology research tool used for studying protein interactions and activation in cells, as well as its role in the immune system and endocrine system. It has been shown to activate the G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) Metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 (mGluR1). This receptor is involved in ion channels, which are proteins that allow ions to pass through membranes in order to create an action potential or change the membrane potential. This peptide has also been shown to bind with antibodies that recognize specific epitopes on the GRF molecule.
