• Descripción: 2'-Deoxy-5-hydroxymethylcytidine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits the enzyme thymidylate synthase. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to a deficiency in the production of thymine, which is essential for DNA synthesis. 2'-Deoxy-5-hydroxymethylcytidine has been shown to be an effective anti-cancer agent in vitro and in vivo. It can also be used as a potential biomarker for cancer and can be used as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primer for detection of cancer tissue. This drug binds to the polymerase enzyme, preventing it from performing its function to replicate DNA, thereby halting cell division and causing cell death.
