It is a chelate ring with a coordination geometry group P2, which has been shown to have low detection in urine and blood samples. 2-Hydrazino-4-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine binds copper ions, forming a copper complex, which causes the release of chloride ions. This process leads to an increased level of hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radicals that induce cancer cell death by inhibiting DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. 2-Hydrazino-4-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine also inhibits the production of certain enzymes (such as cyclooxygenase), which are involved in the production of prostaglandins that promote tumor growth.
