Descripción:MAC-545496 is a synthetic molecule that is effective against bacterial strains that are resistant to other antibiotics. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Galleria mellonella. This drug binds to the membrane of the cell, thereby inhibiting enzyme activity and preventing active transport of ions. It also inhibits histamine release in mammalian cells. MAC-545496 is thought to have a regulatory effect on gene expression, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of DNA. The molecule does not affect mammalian physiology or the growth of mammalian cells, but it does cause inhibition in microbial cells by blocking DNA synthesis.
