This binding prevents the release of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) from their inhibitory complexes with inhibitors, leading to cell cycle arrest. Dimethylenastron has been shown to be successful in inhibiting tumor growth in cancer cells by inducing apoptosis. Furthermore, this drug has been shown to have a potential diagnostic use in infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis and AIDS.
