• Descripción: β-Secretase inhibitor II is a small molecule that inhibits the activity of beta-secretase, an enzyme involved in the production of amyloid protein. β-Secretase inhibitor II prevents the formation of aggregates of amyloid protein and thus has been shown to be effective in treating Alzheimer's disease. It also has inhibitory properties against neutrophil and endothelial cell proliferation, which may be due to its ability to inhibit o-glcnacylation. β-Secretase inhibitor II suppresses the growth of pancreatic cancer cells by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting inflammatory response. This drug also has been shown to have a calcium chelating property, which may be due to its ability to bind with calcium ions.
