N6-Methyl-2'-C-methyladenosine inhibits viral replication by blocking the synthesis of DNA. This compound also has antiproliferative effects on cancer cells and retards tumor growth in animal models. N6-Methyl-2'-C-methyladenosine is synthesized from phosphoramidites in a two step process: first, the addition of methyl iodide to the phosphorus atom followed by nucleophilic substitution with methylamine.
