It can be used as a building block for the synthesis of ribonucleosides, deoxyribonucleosides, and phosphoramidites. This product has been shown to have anticancer properties and may be used in the development of new anticancer drugs. 9-(2'-C-methyl-b-D-ribofuranosyl)6-methylpurine has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by inhibiting DNA synthesis.
