5-Methylcytidine-5'-triphosphate lithium salt is a nucleotide analog that inhibits thrombin by binding to the active site and blocking the catalytic activity. This compound is useful for the study of cellular function and viral life. 5-Methylcytidine-5'-triphosphate lithium salt has been shown to inhibit intracellular levels of thrombin, which can be used for anticoagulation in vitro. In addition, this compound has been shown to have regenerative properties in vivo and may be used for tissue engineering purposes. 5-Methylcytidine-5'-triphosphate lithium salt has also been shown to inhibit viral replication in mammalian cells.
