Trans-1,2-pyrrolidinedicarboxylic acid, 4-hydroxy-, 1-(phenylmethyl) ester is a crystalline solid that is soluble in water, alcohols, and acetonitrile. It is an organic compound that can be synthesized by the reaction of benzaldehyde with trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane. This compound has been used to produce polyamides and as a reagent for the synthesis of other compounds. Trans-1,2-pyrrolidinedicarboxylic acid, 4-hydroxy-, 1-(phenylmethyl) ester has been found to inhibit protease activity in vitro and in vivo.
