Descripción:6-(1-Piperizinyl)-9-(b-D-ribofuranosyl)-9H-purine (6-PMB) is a novel antiviral drug that inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA. It has been shown to prevent viral replication at low concentrations in cells, but not in tissue culture. 6-PMB is an analog of adenosine, which is a nucleoside that can be found in both DNA and RNA. 6-PMB also has anticancer activities, which are believed to be due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis.
