It has been shown to be active against the population of hetero cells in the skin and hair follicles in mice. This drug also has a divalent effect, which means it can bind to two sites on the cell's DNA. 2-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)-thiazole has been shown to cause alopecia in rats and humans. 2-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)-thiazole also inhibits the production of pluripotent cells, such as stem cells and neural progenitor cells, from bone marrow.
