It has been shown to inhibit the phosphorylation of adenosine monophosphate (AMP) by camp levels, which leads to increased cellular levels of cAMP and cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cAMP). 6TGMP has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro, including hepatoma cells and ovcar-3 cells. This nucleotide also inhibits the activity of several growth factors, such as insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ), and fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2).
