It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting arachidonic acid metabolism, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. ((3R,6R)-6-Methylpiperidin-3-yl)methanol has also been shown to be an efficient transaminase with a broad substrate range and stereoselectivity.
