This drug has been shown to have therapeutic potential in treating myeloproliferative disorders, such as polycythemia vera and essential thrombocythemia. 2-Bromo-N-{3-[(2-phenylacetyl)amino]-phenyl}acetamide can also be used for cancer therapy as it inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. 2-Bromo-N-{3-[(2-phenylacetyl)amino]-phenyl}acetamide has also been shown to be effective against Alzheimer's disease and depression, which are caused by a lack of serotonin.
