Ginsenoside Rk1 is a natural drug that has been shown to have a hypoglycemic effect in mice. It has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory, matrix, and mitochondrial membrane potential effects. Ginsenoside Rk1 has also been shown to inhibit the growth of xenograft tumor cells in mice. The drug is not well absorbed by the body, with a reported bioavailability of less than 10%. This may be due to its hydroxyl group and aminotransferase activity. Ginsenoside Rk1 has also been shown to inhibit colon cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo.
