Prednisolone succinate a-cyclodextrin conjugate is a synthetic glycosylated prodrug of prednisolone. Prednisolone is an anti-inflammatory steroid that belongs to the glucocorticoid class. Prednisolone succinate a-cyclodextrin conjugate is modified with the addition of the sugar alpha-cyclodextrin and methylation of the hydroxyl group on the C20 position. This product has been designed for use in animal studies, as it can be used in vivo without any modification or degradation. Prednisolone succinate a-cyclodextrin conjugate has been shown to have greater bioavailability than prednisolone and does not require hepatic metabolism for activation.
