It has been shown to be effective against cancer cells and HIV infection. N4-Acetyl-5'-O-DMT-cytidine 3'-CE phosphoramidite also inhibits the production of viral proteins, including new viral particles, by binding to the RNA polymerase enzyme in cells. This compound can be used as a novel antiviral agent for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV1) infections.
