The molecular weight is 176.4 g/mol, with a melting point of 36°C and boiling point of 285°C. 4-Ethyl-2,6-dimethoxyphenol is also used in treatments for low molecular weight organic compounds such as methanol, phenolic, and hydrogenolysis. This monomer has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the industrial production of polyurethane foam and various other catalytic processes. The yield from 4-Ethyl-2,6-dimethoxyphenol ranges from 60% to 90%.
