2,2-Dimethylnonanoic acid is a chemical compound that has the formula CH3CO2CH(CH3)COOH. It is a colorless liquid with an unpleasant odor. 2,2-Dimethylnonanoic acid is used as a catalyst in organic synthesis and as a precursor to other chemicals such as fluorosulfonic acid and hydrogen fluoride. It is also used in the production of dienes and alcohols. The yield of 2,2-dimethylnonanoic acid in this process can be up to 98%. This chemical can also be used for the production of perfluoroalkyl derivatives.
