Bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato)zinc(II) is a coordination complex with the formula Zn(CH)(CO)(OCH). It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in organic solvents. Bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato)zinc(II) is used as a catalyst for the synthesis of phosphites from alcohols. This compound also reacts with acyclic and cyclic amides with yields up to 97%. The reaction mechanism involves the formation of an iminium ion which undergoes intramolecular nucleophilic substitution.
