Bromopentacarbonylmanganese(I) (BPCMn) is a carbonyl group that can be used as an organic photochemical gas sensor. BPCMn has been synthesized by the reaction of manganese with trifluoroacetic acid in the presence of light. The product was purified by column chromatography and recrystallization. The synthesis of BPCMn has been studied, and it has been shown that this molecule is soluble in chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, and benzene. It also reacts with hydrogen chloride to form a salt-like compound.
