Amyloid β-Protein (Human, 1-38) is a peptide that is a major constituent of the amyloid plaques found in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease. It has been shown to inhibit ion channels and ligand-activated ion channels. The receptor for this protein is unknown, but it may be involved in cell signaling or neurotransmitter release. Amyloid β-Protein (Human, 1-38) can be used as a research tool to study proteins and their interactions with other proteins, as well as to study how these interactions affect the function of cells.
