Descripción:Pemetrexed is a chemotherapeutic drug that has been approved for the treatment of cancer. It inhibits the growth of tumor cells by binding to and disrupting the function of the protein kinase, glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3). Pemetrexed is used to treat cancer in patients who have not responded to other treatments or whose cancer has spread. Pemetrexed has also been shown to inhibit epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling, which may be due to its ability to inhibit GSK-3. This drug binds to two sites on GSK-3, which results in inhibition of both GSK-3 and EGFR signaling pathways. The pharmacokinetic properties of pemetrexed have been studied extensively and its action on lung cells has been examined using a cell culture model.
