Nickel carbonate AR (basic) (hydrate) is a chemical substance that is used in the drug discovery process. It is a crystalline solid with a low pH and it damages chromosomal DNA, inhibiting the replication of cells. Nickel carbonate AR (basic) (hydrate) has been shown to form DNA adducts when interacting with DNA, which causes chromosomal damage. This can be used as a screening method for identifying substances that cause chromosomal damage. Nickel carbonate AR (basic) (hydrate) can be used in high-throughput screening to identify compounds that are able to inhibit DNA synthesis and induce cell death.
