Descripción:2-Phenylcyclopent-2-en-1-one is a cyclic ketone that can be used in the preparation of 2-phenylcyclopentanones by deoxygenation. The compound can also be converted to cyclopentenones by treatment with alcohols, olefins, or esters. It is also useful for the synthesis of the vinyl ethers and cycloadditions. The reduction of this molecule produces cyclohexanol. Treatment with methanol produces 1,4-benzodiazepine derivatives. Finally, it can be used for annulation reactions as well.
