Descripción:
5-Ethoxypyrrolidin-2-one is a chemical compound that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other drugs. It has been shown to have anti-amnesic effects against scopolamine-induced amnesia, and may also be used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. 5EPO can be synthesized from 2-ethoxybenzaldehyde and pyrrolidine with magnesium, followed by reaction with ethyl bromide or another alkylating agent. This compound can be purified using preparative HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) and is effective when administered at doses greater than 200mg/kg.
