Descripción:2-Hydroxy-5-nitrobenzonitrile is a potential drug that has been shown to inhibit the uptake of pyochelin, a bacterial metabolite involved in iron metabolism. The kinetic and biological properties of 2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzonitrile have been studied with respect to its effects on gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This molecule has also been shown to have immunomodulatory activities and can be used as a potential drug for the treatment of various diseases, including diabetes mellitus. In addition, 2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzonitrile is a potent xanthine oxidase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit human albumin oxidation. This molecule is also stereoselective, which means it binds preferentially to one enantiomer of the enzyme it targets.
