Descripción:Efaroxan hydrochloride is a cyclase inhibitor that blocks imidazoline receptors. It has been shown to prevent body formation in the model system and reduce food intake in rats. This drug also prevents the release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells, which leads to reduced glucose levels. Efaroxan hydrochloride has been shown to stimulate the activity of agmatine, an endogenous amino acid neurotransmitter, by blocking its reuptake. Agmatine has been shown to have a hypoglycemic effect in animal models. The drug may also have negative effects on the kidneys as it causes increased levels of cytosolic Ca2+ ions.
