It is synthesized by condensation of two molecules of tetragonic acid and trans-4-coumaric acid in the presence of a primary amine. This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. N1,N10-Bis(p-coumaroyl)spermidine also has been shown to have antioxidant properties and is capable of scavenging free radicals in vitro.
