Descripción

Palbinone is a molecule that blocks the activity of PI3K, an enzyme involved in insulin resistance. Palbinone has potent inhibitory activity against insulin resistance in various cell lines and is a potential antidiabetic agent. This molecule also inhibits inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, by blocking NF-κB activation in macrophages. Palbinone binds to the dinucleotide phosphate (NDP) site on PI3K, which leads to inhibition of downstream signaling pathways such as the PI3K/Akt pathway. Palbinone also inhibits insulin-stimulated glucose uptake and activates AMPK in adipocytes and skeletal muscle cells, leading to reductions in body weight gain and fat mass accumulation.
