It binds to intracellular targets, such as kinases, and prevents them from being activated by other molecules. CGP 60474 has also been used in diagnosis of autoimmune diseases and HIV infection. CGP 60474 is a combination preparation with an inhibitor of viral replication that is active against HIV-1, HIV-2, and SIV. The drug inhibits viral replication by binding to the viral envelope protein gp120 and preventing it from binding to the host CD4 receptor on T cells. This prevents viral entry into the cell and subsequent integration into the host genome.
