4-(Bromomethyl) aniline, N-BOC protected is a bifunctional molecule with two functional groups. One group is a reactive bromo group that can be used to attach to the surface of magnetic particles. The other functional group is a protected amine that can be used to attach protein molecules or peptides. This molecule has been shown to have high uptake by cells and can be immobilized on nanoshells, resulting in a high surface area for attachment of proteins. It has also been shown to be useful in creating patterns of immobilized molecules by using monolayer as a template.
