• Descripción: Hepcidin is a peptide hormone that plays a key role in the regulation of iron metabolism in the body. It is produced by the liver and is secreted into the bloodstream, where it interacts with cells in the intestine and other tissues to control the absorption and distribution of iron.Hepcidin acts as a negative regulator of iron uptake and release by binding to and inhibiting the activity of ferroportin, a protein that facilitates the export of iron from cells into the bloodstream.
