PTP Inhibitor V, also known as PHPS1, is a phosphatase that is a potential target for leukemia therapy. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of tyrosine kinases in chronic myeloid leukemia cells. PTP Inhibitor V blocks the activation of the BCR-ABL kinase by inhibiting its dephosphorylation. This inhibition prevents the assembly of adherens junctions and disrupts cell-cell contacts, leading to apoptosis. The long-term exposure to PTP Inhibitor V can lead to imatinib resistance in chronic myeloid leukemia cells.
