4-Bromo-±-cyanocinnamic acid is a drug that binds to the norepinephrine transporter, which is responsible for the uptake of norepinephrine in the brain. It has been shown to have affinity for the transporter and its effects on the nervous system include depression and anxiety. 4-Bromo-±-cyanocinnamic acid is also a potent inhibitor of human serotonin transporter, which regulates serotonin levels in the body. The drug also has a high affinity for human dopamine transporter, but is not active against other nonhuman transporters.
