The tyrosine kinases are involved in many cellular processes such as cell growth and differentiation. JH-VIII-157-02 has shown activity against non-small cell lung cancer cells and has been studied in clinical trials for its efficacy against this disease. It is believed that the drug blocks constitutive activation of the protein by binding to the kinase domain and preventing it from interacting with other proteins. The molecule also inhibits the phosphorylation of other proteins, leading to tumor growth inhibition.
