Avβ1 integrin-in-1 can also be used as a research tool to study β1 integrins and their role in cell signaling pathways. Avβ1 integrin-in-1 is not an antibody or antibody fragment, but an activator of the αvβ1 integrin receptor that is purified from E. coli.
