Descripción:Pregabalin is a drug that has been approved by the FDA to treat chronic pain, specifically neuropathic pain. It binds to voltage-dependent calcium channels, which are found in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Pregabalin is also used as an add-on treatment for epilepsy, anxiety disorders, and fibromyalgia. This drug has been shown to be effective against neuropathic pain in both adults and children. However, it is not recommended for treating chronic cough or bowel disease because of its potential side effects. Pregabalin can cause dizziness and drowsiness, so it should be avoided in patients who have difficulty with balance or coordination (e.g., people who have had a stroke).
