2,3,13,14-Tetrabromo-6,7,9,10,17,18,20,21-octahydrodibenzo[B,K][1,4,7,10]hexaxacyclooctadecine (TBX) is a boswellic acid derivative with potent anti-inflammatory activity. TBX inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines and nitric oxide in macrophages. It also has a protective effect against radiation-induced oxidative stress and inflammation in mice. TBX has been shown to decrease blood pressure in women with hypertension. In addition to its anti-inflammatory properties TBX also has antitumor activity and can inhibit the growth of human cancer cells by binding to DNA. It is also active against two types of human papilloma virus (HPV) that cause cervical cancer. This drug may be useful for the treatment of infants with developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder or attention deficit
